Delete your account

Rungroove is the mobile app for iOS and Android built and operated by one person from British Columbia, Canada. This page explains how to delete your account and exactly what goes with it.

From inside the app

  1. Open Rungroove and go to the home screen.
  2. Tap the gear icon at the top right.
  3. Under Account, tap Delete account.
  4. Read the summary, tap Continue, then type DELETE to confirm.

Deletion happens immediately. There is no waiting period, no soft delete, and no way to undo it.

If you have already uninstalled the app

Email plainsight.works@gmail.com from the address on your account and ask for deletion. You do not need to reinstall anything.

Requests are actioned within 30 days and usually much sooner. You will get a confirmation once it is done. If you write from an address that is not on the account, you will be asked to confirm ownership first, because otherwise anyone could delete anyone.

What gets deleted

Everything below is removed permanently, whichever route you use:

  • Your login and your profile
  • Your playlists and everything in them
  • Your favorites and your hidden songs
  • Any song suggestions you sent in
  • Your linked Spotify and YouTube Music connections

Deleting your Rungroove account does not touch your Spotify or YouTube Music account itself. It removes this app’s access to them, and any playlist Rungroove already created in those services stays there under your control. Delete it from that service if you want it gone.

What stays, and why

Songs stay in the shared catalog. The catalog is the product and it belongs to everyone using the app, so a song does not disappear because the person who suggested it left. Where a song records who submitted or verified it, that link to you is erased, leaving the song without an owner rather than deleting it.

Reports of a wrong tempo also stay, because they never carried your identity in the first place. They are stored with no user attached at all, so there is nothing in them to delete.

Deleted data can persist briefly in encrypted database backups before those roll off on their normal schedule. It is not readable by the app and is never restored to your account.
